Tia’s mouth started to water at the thought of what the cake must taste like. She wanted to get a closer look, so she pulled out a stepladder from the corner of the pantry, and climbed up. While concentrating on keeping her balance on the ladder, she carefully lifted the dome off the cake and set it aside on the shelf. The smell was wonderful! …. All cocoa-ish and rich! She decided to take a tiny little taste of the frosting with her finger …………mmmmmmmm, delicious! She knew she shouldn’t, but she just had to have another little taste! Mmmmmmmm! Tia got down from the ladder, and went to get a teaspoon from the kitchen drawer. Then she climbed up the ladder again, and scooped a tiny little piece of the cake from the bottom, feeling sure that her mom wouldn’t notice such a tiny little hole in such a big cake. She tried to cover up the little hole by smoothing it over with the buttery frosting. She told herself that she must stop, but the cake was so yummy, she just had to have one more little taste, before going back out into the yard to play. So she scooped another tiny spoonful, popped it in her mouth, and delighted in the flavor. She knew she was being very naughty. Mommy’s friends would be over soon, and this cake had been made especially for them. But she simply couldn’t help herself. She took another little scoop, and another……..and then another, and before she knew it, she had eaten the whole cake!!! In fact, her tummy even felt a little sore, but she knew she had to think fast to repair the damage, or else her mom would be very angry with her, and maybe even punish her!

Saturday mornings in the kitchen, is Tia's favorite time with her mom, when she helps make tasty treats for her friends for tea. One morning, Tia's mom bakes a delicious chocolate cake - Tia's absolute favorite treat in the whole world! When her mom leaves the kitchen to take a nap before her friends arrive, Tia is unable to resist a taste ........ and her love for chocolate gets her into a sticky situation that she has to quickly find a way out of!. With her mischievous nature, Tia finds a very creative solution to her problem - one that we know most children can relate to very well indeed!
About the Author
Leanne Plein Micinilio was born in South Africa in 1963. She was raised mainly in Johannesburg, but spent a few years of her childhood in Durban. Leanne is an African at heart and is drawn to the rhythm and spirit of the African bush. She is captivated by the underwater world of the ocean and enjoys scuba diving. She loves to travel, and has visited Australia, Canada, Ireland, Mauritius and Mozambique, as well as has traveled extensively in Europe. She lived in Milan, Italy for 2 years, where she taught English to young children. Leanne hopes to have an opportunity to live in Cape Town, South Africa, or Melbourne, Australia, at a stone-throw’s distance from the ocean, one day. Hobbies include; Latin languages, foreign movies, music and audio books. Shared passions with her husband include; travel, art and exploring international food and wine. Leanne met her American husband in Siena (Tuscany), Italy in 1995, while attending a 2 month scholarship at l’Universita per Stranieri. They married in South Africa in 1996, and returned to the United States to settle in Connecticut. They have a young child together. “I am very fond of children and am fascinated by what makes their curious minds tick. I find their naivete refreshing, and enjoy the fact that they say exactly what they are thinking. They have so much enthusiasm for life – deriving pleasure from simple things. We can learn so much from them. Since his birth, my own child continues to amaze, fulfill and delight me. Every day is a new adventure and I can’t get enough!"
