As I stood in the shower, the sound of the water falling down from the showerhead seemed to beat an endless rhythm to a forsaken song. I tried to place it but all I got was an army of thoughts that suddenly stormed my already melancholic morning.
Why do we get up every morning to go to a place we don’t like and do work we absolutely hate? Why do we sit in the endless traffic heading to a place that has nothing to do with the destiny we have been called to fulfill? Why would a preacher go to a bank for eight hours of his day, to count money and answer to irate and sometimes rude customers? He can’t preach to them, it’s forbidden at his workplace. Why would a psalmist give in to eight hours of silence at a research company where absolute quiet is expected? A psalmist’s eternal duty is to make a joyful “noise” unto the Lord. Eight hours of each day, of not being able to think or act on the life’s assignment we have been ordained to fulfill. And we have God to answer to if we fail. And yet, we also have the leaders of our natural world to answer to if we dare defy the ethics they have set. How then can we fulfill one without hurting the other so much, or failing completely in one? What propels us to choose one over the other; the pleasing of eternity versus the pleasing of the man made rules?

About the Book
Over the years, I have been encouraged (more like pestered) by a very dear friend to publish my diary of thoughts in its entirety. I publish only excerpts from it because I think some things are best left between me and God.
I hope I have chosen portions that would provoke positive and changing thoughts.
About the Author
The author was born in Ede, Oshun State, Nigeria, as the first of 19 siblings. Born into Royalty as the granddaughter of Late King Adetoyese Laoye, the Timi of Ede II, she grew up partly in Nigeria, London and the United States of America. The author currently lives in Beltsville, MD, in the United States of America. She is a worship-leader, writer and recording artist with several works to her credit.
She is a recipient of achievement awards in studies in “Holy Spirit in the Now”, “New Testament studies”, “Old Testament studies”, and “Prayer with emphasis on warfare”, obtained through the Action Worship Center’s (in conjunction with Oral Roberts University) “School of Spiritual Advancement” (SOSA), Elkridge, MD.
