About the Book

The title, Granny Knob, was adopted from Granites’ Knob which was located in Lucia, North Carolina off Highway #16 near the granite mine. It was here in an old house where our church members first gathered. This house not only served as a place of worship for church members but also served as a school for children who lived in the area.
Our first structure was built in the year of 1919 out of logs from fallen trees due to a bad storm. The church building was dedicated to the glory of God on August 5, 1919. No one really knows how long before this date it was that the first members gathered in fellowship in an old house at Granites’ Knob.
Each recipe whether handed down from many generations or an original making its’ debut is now immortalized in the pages of this book. It will be an asset to the beginning cook as well as for the most experienced. Its many tips and helpful hints will be a benefit to even those who don’t consider themselves a cook.

About the Author

“A Taste of Granny Knob” dedicated to the memory of the first members of the Macedonia Baptist Church is a collection of recipes donated from church members and friends. The idea came forth as a vision, from the Holy Spirit, to the Deaconess and Women’s Ministries. Its authorship is attributed to many ladies who joined the effort in putting together a book of memories in the form of this cook book. They differ in ways such as the very young to the very seasoned, wives verses the single parent, students and singles, each coming together having one common goal-sharing a part of a treasured memory.
They give all thanks to God our heavenly father for the knowledge and vision given during the tedious but most enjoyable venture. Just as our fore -parents paved the way for them
- it is with the publication of this cook book that they plant a seed in the lives of the upcoming generation that they too may take pride in the meals they prepare. Whether the meals were prepared on a wood stove or from the conventional ovens of today you will find that the Women of Macedonia put their heart and soul into what they prepared for their family and friends.
