Kalidasa's Megha Dootam

Amid the lush, leafy shades of Mount Ramagiri,

Near the streams sanctified by the bathing Sita Devi,

An undutiful Yaksha, banished by his master for a year,

Made his forlorn abode---separated from his spouse dear.

So emaciated as to cause the bracelet to drop from his wrist,

Eight months later on monsoon`s first morn, as though by tryst,

The hapless lover espied on the adjacent hill-slope

An alluringly elephantine cloud , which evoked his high hope.
