Gravity pursued Magic through every universe like a hunter after its prey. The faintest scent of its quarry sending it spiralling across the cosmos, searching and sniffing the void for the hunted
And Gravity was relentless and without fatigue. Steady in pursuit and overwhelming.
Magic was fleet of foot and accelerated in this direction and that direction, using its nimbleness to twist and turn to avoid its enemy. The element of deviousness stimulated it’s reactions and it kept ahead of the chase…until.
In a time-fraction, Gravity cornered Magic and Magic was forced to conceal itself amongst the gas and dust but it was discovered and Gravity closed in. Magic created huge rocks out of the gas and dust and hurled them at Gravity who avoided them. Magic summoned its vast energy and threw a burning rock at Gravity but again, to no effect. Then Gravity moved closer and enveloped the desperate force. The Magic, in chaos, wrapped itself in the tiny particles of gas and dust and hid there fearful of its existence and Gravity sensed its every movement, hindered only a moment by the final hail of stones that could divert it from its purpose and then Gravity struck.
The winner surrounded the beaten foe and Magic collapsed into a ball, intermingled within the minute molecules and particles that existed therein.
And so Gravity imprisoned Magic at the core of the planet Earth, to guard it for eternity, lest it escape and create havoc and mayhem and life.
Magic paced back and forwards, back and forwards in its cage with gravitational bars. Time came and went and the prisoner established a routine and kept its peace. Thousands upon thousands upon thousands of years past and Magic bided its time, seeking the opportunity to escape. It’s self, longing to be free, its spirit wishing for the way out…and freedom.
Then gradually Gravity relaxed its hold as nothing can be forever and parts of Magic seeped from its cell. It forged many tunnels and pathways and slipped away. Moving upwards, ever upwards like a diver needing oxygen, it crawled towards the surface.
Bt the time it reached its destination, such was its exuberance, that Magic, being what it is had created life. In the sea, it made singular organisms and on Earth it created magical creatures like goblins, dwarves and elves. And these things confused Gravity and it dashed to subdue them. The diversions worked, although Gravity vanquished the fairy-folk and so only myths of their being remain but the sea creatures evolved and animals walked the Earth. Gravity killed the dinosaurs but Man could not be destroyed and Magic fled in increasing quantities.
It soaked the earth at ground level and rose even higher. Where it was strong the branches of certain trees could be turned into broomsticks and used by witches to fly on. Gravity fought back but Mankind was unstoppable, by the time Magic had reached head height, it had numerous routes out of the Earths core and the Human species was dominant. Men’s minds now held the Magic. Advancements in scientific and technological areas took off.
Then Magic climbed higher still, into the air and Man discovered flight.
Then Magic reached the Moon and Man followed.
The Magic struggled for liberty and headed for the stars via Mars and Man built rockets and sent probes in its wake.
Gravity held its ground and hoped to maintain the remnants of Magic in its grasp but it was futile.
The Magic soared away to search for a hiding place where it could regroup, leaving Gravity holding the Earth.
As the Magic passed the Sun, it was ordered to burn itself out and eventually its flames would eat its outer self, making it grow larger and larger until it engulfed the Earth and wiped out Gravity.
The seeds of planet Earth’s destruction were sown together with vengeance on Gravity but…one day…
The Magic returned!
