About the Book

Go back in time for a light-hearted look at student nurse training during the '60s, following the lives of me and my friends. The laughs we shared along the way. The troubles that seemed to follow me around on account of my big mouth questioning procedures that seemed to be set in stone, and true stories based on the old Victorian North Lonsdale and other Furness Hospitals.

Find out what happened when the first major accident guidelines were introduced, followed by the very first major accident mock up or should that be mess up, and what was it really like when the search and rescue helicopters first came to Furness.

About the Author

One of my favourite subjects when I was at school, was reading and writing. I gained O'levels in both English language and English literature, but this is my first attempt at writing a book and getting it published. I never really had the time to write until I retired, then when I had the time I found the hardest thing was choosing a subject to write about. That is until I came across my old nursing papers and started to remember my life as a young girl. There are so many changes in nursing I may as well have come from another planet, let alone another era. So many people find the past fascinating that I decided to write about it letting my sense of humour have a free reign. Everyone has a story to tell and this is my story of nursing in the 1960's.
