Euell Beard: The Early Years

About the Book

The first part of this story is about a boy who lived through the depression, and who handled life in his own unique way. The story starts out at age five.  He lived through some  serious situations and  some very funny ones.

The last part of the book records his military service beginning at age nineteen.  He fought in the Battle of the Bulge as a machine gunner, and was in the thick of the battles that occured at the end of World War Two.

Again, he lived this part of his life with the same ingenuity, determination, and spirit of survival that sustained him in his Early Years.

He managed to figure things out for himself, and have some fun along the way.

Euell Beard is my husband, and I have been deeply moved to hear his stories about World War II.  These stories are told through the eyes of a nineteen year old soldier.

I hope this little book will spark interest in the history of this war, because it is a major part of  the history of our country.  It is also very pertinent to our present day lives, because the hard earned freedoms  that we enjoy  are not gauranteed to live forever,  unless we are now prepared to fight to preserve them , as the men and women of  World War II fought to protect them.

I have only written one book before this one, and I have enjoyed  writing both of them  I am a retired person, married with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  I am  74 years old, but I might have another book to write still., or maybe some poetry.  Its not over till its over.
