I have turned to passages included in the text of this my second book of “Chit-Chat-Café” and realized the subtitle had to be, “Yarns From, the Heart.”
One key realization came to me as I continued writing my first book, and that was what I kept hearing from others, “Every body has his or her story, all that is needed is to take time and listen, by doing this the tales seemingly are always there for the listener or in my case there for me the author.
One of those vignettes if you care to call it that, came for me in this way from the start and that was a few years ago now. Due to my parents lives, and the passing of both of them, nearly, twelve years ago now, and to think, it all occurred fourteen days apart. First, was my becoming extremely grief stricken. All of it brought me to know I needed to seek out real guidance. Shortly afterwards, I knew I must seek out a counselor to work all of this through. I did exactly that. Fortunately, I found a fine professional that told me after my first session what would help me the most on this day, was to return to my home and write letters to both of them. That’s exactly what I did; I found I had written four pages or letters, and the next thing I wrote down was, “Birds From, the Thicket.” I knew at that moment, what I was going to do, from there I was certain I was going to write the book, broke all down chronologically, pulled my two sources down off the shelf, my Baby Book and my school annuals and began writing. A year and a half later, I had written the book in draft form and to show what can happen, when one is given his or her passion, now I to share with you what this my second book, “Chit-Chat-Café” is all about.
Join me now as I share the following:
The writer I remembered wrote short stories in The Saturday Evening Post and Colliers Magazine that my mother used to share with me.
His work got to me. It must have permeated my soul. I am the writer I undoubtedly wanted to be. One more incite came. The radio, for I wanted my shot at the radio business too. Both came true!
While writing my first book, I wrote for newspapers in Washington and Oregon, also began work with magazines. Ahead would be plans to write, my second book, “Chit-Chat-Café” world-wide short stories.
All of it brings me to think as one editor said, “Your writing evokes the depth of the “Red Earth of Oklahoma.” An odyssey indeed!
I kept hearing, “You really should share with others, especially new writers as yourself, fledgling authors, what path you took, to market, your very first book.”
After thinking about this, I thought, it might prove helpful for them as well.
All involved similar paths taken by other authors I am sure, yet there would be writers that might gain insight as to how they might want to proceed.
No, it was more than that. Through the years of all I have conveyed came much of the same effort in making sure to grasp any and all opportunities to interview a myriad of people, who were kind enough to tell me their stories. And from them, has come this new book, that, is to become as I said, world-wide short stories for
