About the Author : M.Farooq Malik
‘Kahoon Coos : Poetical Ruminations’ expresses the intensity of mercurial thoughts and emotions characterizing our daily lives. The poems rev up the reader, in each case, to poignant and thoughtful musings in the backdrop of his/her own experiences: Each poetic piece serves a titillating encounter with a set of subtle nuances.
The minor section ‘Conjugal Concoctions’; however, is a light-hearted look at the marital momentum and muddle that hastens and hobbles the wedded victims: A source of lively reminiscences and reminders for all those who are, or wish to be spouses.
Mr. Malik, carries rich memories of the sights and sounds of his native open country, the Kahoon valley in the Salt Range of Pakistan. The melancholy cooing of the dove, in the sparsely wooded country, continues to lend resonance to his memory; hence the title, ‘Kahoon Coos: Poetical Ruminations.’
Now a professor of English at a local Business School, Mr. Malik’s first professional calling was Army. He served in the Pakistan Army as a commissioned officer for twenty two years, before retiring at the rank of a major in December 1992. He earned his masters degrees in English and Political Science during the course of his military career.
Mr. Malik’s abiding interest in the English Language has borne its first fruit; the flavor of this poetic Endeavour, however, lies in its tasting.
