About the Book

This poetic book of lyrics written in English and Jamaican Patois, will capture the reader’s imagination but must be heard put to the music with its vibrant and sensual rhythms, spiced with Lorraine’s enchanting background vocals, on Bluedan’s Album —“Bluedan Featuring Lorraine - RESUME!!

Coinciding with his reggae and R&B style debut album, RESUME, Bluedan has published this book of lyrics that touch on his everyday life experiences and pride on becoming a US citizen.

Bluedan was born Gareth Oliver James in the Parish of St. James, Jamaica W.I, where he lived until he migrated to the US in mid-1995. He was inspired to write these insightful patriotic poems…
From “Great Country USA ”
What great country is the USA .
American dreams
is my bed where I lay.

To build a strong team
is the American’s way

for strength and prosperity
what its people pray...
And of course romance!…
From “My Baby Wants to Hold Me Tight”
The evening sun sets over the ocean
while descending from the skies.

The rainbow colors paint the mountains
with the rivers runnin’ by.
The evenin’ breeze rushes along the hillside,
And my babe’s arms open wide.
I see the beauty from her pure eyes
and feel the passion that strides.
While my baby’s by my side,

to my baby I’m obliged,
And my baby she wants to hold me tight.

Bluedan's chance encounter with Lorraine would soon find him realizing his dream of hearing his music recorded.  Collaborating with Lorraine, they produced their debut album in May of 2008.

About the Author

Gareth O. James, born in the Parish of Saint James, Jamaica, WI., grew up in the countryside, spent most of his early childhood days on his Dad’s farm.

The white sand beaches were his favorite playgrounds to visit. Favorite hobbies were soccer ball, cricket, swimming, fishing, and bird hunting using a sling shot called a "Catapult" in Jamaican.

Schools attended: Vaughansfield Primary, Maldon Technical, Montego Bay Community College, Jamaica Commercial Institute.

During his late teens Gareth performed as an apprentice DJ and singer on a small sound system in the area.

In his early 20’s Gareth decided that the country life was a little too slow to progress and went to the city of Montego Bay where he became employed in the Tourist Industry in some of the major hotel chains in Rose Hall, Montego Bay where he socialized with the tourists from all walks of life, understanding their accents and learning their cultures, while staying positive with fellow Jamaicans. The waterfront, the beaches, and the nightlife were a dream come true.

In the mid-90’s Gareth migrated to the United States of America where he became employed in the financial industry.

Music was one of the dreams that had to come true. He was inspired to write a few intellectual, poetic and romantic songs. In 2008 he decided to headway into music and published his first album, "Resume."

Now that the possibilities are ventured, Gareth’s views are to share his inspirational memories to open the hearts of many, and to cherish the souls of all that love and appreciate the joy of music--Now and Forever.

Cheers to "Lorraine" on her debut with Bluedan!
