Prayer to God
Dear God I look to you
for I am truly lost
What is the meaning
of friendship as used today
to make a mistake for caring for someone
who you thought cared enough for you
to at least respect the beauty of honesty
What happened to standing up
for what you believe in
regardless of your fate
if you wish a friend that lies
than please contact them
Why make the first move
to be a part of my life
then turn your back on me
when I finally put my trust in you
this is not a game
that anyone should play
I have known many
who have lost time and loved ones
from such a costly game
is anyone's life
worth this secret way
Why do we as people
not say what we really feel
this one that I speak of
I thought liked me for
my innocent appeal
for besides my knowledge
that is all I have to reveal
Why Dear God
do people hurt the ones
who have no thought what so ever
to harm them in return
but instead trying to save their souls within
my friend if you are reading this
please listen to me at this time
for in my heart of hearts
I want to believe
that you are not of this kind
who wishes to damage the innocent
as a punishment for what
I do not know
Dear God,
I want a miracle
please send true honesty my way
for I could use him as a friend
for these lies are killing me
last night I thought to take my life
some pills and drink I mixed
so sick I became
that I cried myself to sleep
for I am so tired Dear God
for all the lies I hear
Honesty is all I ask
not money, cars, or jewels
I even have given up
on wanting loyalty
All I want is fairness and honesty
for those who contact me
I pray to meet someone
who treasures it like me
before I leave this world of mine
I would like to gaze my face upon
this beautiful specimen of humanity
please hurry Dear God
for I cannot wait anymore
I will either take my life
or even worse
become one of them
please stop me before that happens

Betrayal of An Angel
I am an angel
for I feel joy
even though I was betrayed by the one I adored
I am an angel
for I feel peace
no anger do I feel
the respect of finally being told the truth
of something always suspected
has set my emotions free
I have forgiven him almost instantly
To only feel sorrow for him
to have so little love for yourself
or the ones who care for you
to betray not only me
but also yourself
although my revelation
of the betrayal
forced you to reveal yourself
the honesty set you free
to hold such guilt and shame for so long
I feel sorrow for you
my Faith which I thought failed me
kept me stable
the father of my children
I honor you
honesty so difficult for you
is the one thing that has set you free
my tears have dried in these weeks of turmoil
but I finally feel free
to know that your secrecy is finally over
I forgive you
for I see the turmoil your betrayal of me has placed upon you
only through God could I have forgiven you
Peace and Blessings to you
for I am setting your soul free
free to grow in spirit
free to learn from your mistakes
no anger do I feel for you
although the hurt is still fresh and deep
but to hold it against you
would block my healing
so from me I send you peace
I know I am an angel
for a decade of togetherness
shattered by meaningless betrayals
have not broken me
but filled me with sympathy
I am an angel
this I know
for God is protecting and guiding me
Peace and blessings
to all those who have been betrayed
and to all those who have thought to betray them
you are forgiven
so now forgive yourself

About the Book
Innocence Lost discusses the feelings behind a new soul’s introduction into society and how society has disappointed the soul. Innocence does not understand the way life rejects his honesty and sincerity but instead wishes him to conform to the society's standards. Innocence travels through the eyes of his friends Honesty, Trust, Faith, Loyalty, and Love and sees the effects of society on children, marriages, friendship, and life.
Innocence continues to search as he describes himself and the treatment of his friends. To his amazement, his innocence is being lost. The stories which Innocence encounters along his journey are too graphic and too harsh at times for him to bear. Innocence turns inward for guidance. His internal guidance pushes him towards his old but true friends Honesty, Trust, Faith, Loyalty, and Love, true friends who had been forgotten but were always present. Innocence eventually learns to guide his soul back to its origin. His story is told through his poetry.

About the Author
All that I am is a tribute to Faith and a belief that there is something greater than us. I am ever grateful for my wonderful children who constantly remind me of the beauty in little treasures. I thank God for them every day. I have been blessed with two wonderful parents, extraordinary siblings, and a supportive husband as well as a beautiful extended family and ever growing circle of friends. I have many loves in life. I am an avid reader and a strong supporter of education, the family unit and its diversity, and most importantly the development of our children and respect for our elders. One of my greatest loves is learning about other cultures and beliefs and listening to the tales of others. We can learn much from our neighbors.
Writing has always been a passion of mine which I enjoy sharing. As many of us, I grew up hearing the stories of my parents and grandparents as well as the tales of my aunts, uncles, and elders in the community. It is these stories that have helped shape me into the individual that I am today. May my poems tell you a tale or two. May they shed some light into your life or put a smile on your face. May the blessings of God be before you and behind you and never leave your side.
