About the Book
Readers delight in learning something new about a fascinating holiday while exploring culture and uniqueness of the city of New Orleans. Young children enjoy searching for the letters of alphabet that can appear hidden in the beautiful illustrations. Maturing readers benefit from the opportunity to connect parade and holiday experiences while making predictions from page to page. This informational text may even persuade audiences to begin a new Mardi Gras tradition, and continue to explore the celebrations in other surrounding states and countries. The season beginning Epiphany through Fat Tuesday may be the best time, but the book can be enjoyed anytime by people of all ages!
About the Author
I graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in instructional strategies from Rockford College. I also have endorsements in science, math, and language arts. I saw the magic, history, and potential of Mardi Gras to instruct those around me to see the history of the event. This continues to be my inspiration for this book. I am now pursuing a lifelong dream of experiencing other city and worldwide events to bring these stories to the forefront, and teach children about the bounty of the history of community events and the way they relate and translate to global events. I am also creating supplemental activities in all subject matters for all grade levels for use in the classroom. Some are designed for fun learning. Others are specifically aligned to common core standards. These activities can be found on www.teacherspayteachers.com
