About the Book

Some folks said; ‘who do you think you are to write your Autobiography? Nobody will want to read it.’ These folks thought just because I am an unknown person nobody will be interested in reading about my adventures.

Well, I’m of a different mind. For a lot of people it will be very interesting to read about what they could only dream about having done or doing themselves.

I have cheated death on a number of occasions at sea and on land. I have put down a mutiny. The sailing ship I was Master of, was declared missing in the North Atlantic for days in a snowstorm, but I always brought my passengers and crew and ship back to a safe port.

I have tried and failed and succeeded in a lot of endeavors in my life, but never alone, always with a good woman beside me, encouraging and praising me. Eventually I found not only what I loved to do, but what I became very good at and was very proud to do.

To the reader I want the book to convey this one message, follow your dream and make it a reality. No matter how difficult the road ahead may seem, you will reach your goal and enjoy the rewards at the end.

About the Author

Will Peters was born in Berlin, Germany in 1934, where he lived with his parents until he was twenty years old. During that time at the age of 17 to 20 he traveled with his bicycle through southern Europe. It was in August '54 that he immigrated to Ottawa, Canada, with all his worldly goods, consisting of one small duffle bag and three dollars and thirty-five cents cash.

Struggling just to survive and keep a roof over his head, in January ’55 Will answered an ad for lodgings in the newspaper.  When he knocked on the door, his life took a turn for the better.  A lovely woman, who would be his wife until her death in i997, opened the door.  Together they brought up her three children, opened and closed several businesses and became boating enthusiasts. After the children had grown and flown the nest, Will and Lorraine decided to leave the ice and snow behind them and head for the tropics, where they lived an almost idyllic life and cruised for several years on board their own 57 foot sailing yacht.

During that time Will got his Masters Ticket, and shortly after the Christmas holidays in 1969, Will was offered a job that he couldn’t refuse, as captain of a privately owned yacht and Lorraine as first mate. That job led to other similar jobs, both on motor yachts and sailing vessels.

In November 1985, Will and Lorraine left their life at sea behind and settled in Delray Beach, Florida, where Will became a real estate broker and opened his own office while Lorraine worked by his side until her death. Now Will is happily remarried to his lovely wife Norma and has published two novels, THE GUAVIARE DISASTER and THE NASSAU INCIDENT.
