During my surgery I went into cardiac arrest. Even though it was for a short period of time to those working on me, it seemed a good while to me that I was absent. As I left my body, I could see the doctors and medical staff in thier green gowns and masks working frantically on my body.
I couldn't understand how my body was lying there looking like I was asleep. And here I was feeling so free and not a pain in the world. I'd never felt such a release and freedom in my entire life. I felt as light as a feather and such a feeling of peace seemed to engulf me.
I've heard lots of stories of people traveling through a long tunnel racing toward a bright light when they die. Or, else they have recollections of being greeted by a loved one who had passed on before them, but this was not my case. I had drifted upwards and I left the hospital and the next thing I knew I was in a whole new place.It was like another world, only perfect in every way. I knew without a doubt I was in another world, "this was Heaven."
I was standing beside a white wooden arched bridge intricately designed. Even though the bridge was not that large I felt it would be the biggest step that I would ever take crossing over it. At first all I could do was to stand there admiring the craftsmanship of it. There were railings on both sides of the bridge. Above the railings both sides were open. Overhead was an arched roof that had the most unique design of carvings all along the side edges. As I looked on the other side of the bridge there was a brilliant light that seemed to beckon for me to cross over.
I had never felt such joy. I knew that I needed to continue on. I felt my spirit soar as I tried to take in all the breath taking scenery. In the distance it seemed there was a great city but I was not going there at this time. It was the most awesome place I'd ever seen or had ever visited. I was so excited and couldn't help but wonder why I was here. Had I really died? If so I didn't mind at all especially if I could stay forever. When I was there in that heavenly place I had no recollections of the loved ones that I had left behind.
There were mountains and gorgeous valleys and lots of beautiful trees. Some of these trees, I had never seen on earth before. Some of them appeared to be some kind of fruit trees and they seemed to be plentiful. On the top of one of the mountains was a mansion that stood majestic overlooking a crystal blue lake. The grass was plush like green velvet and well manicured. It was so soft to the touch on my bare feet. I remember looking down at the grass and a surprising thought came to my mind. I had no shadow. The structure of the mansion was unlike anything that I had ever seen or could ever imagine. The windows glistened in the light. But, where was the light coming from? For I noticed there was no sun up in the sky. But it appeared to be daytime.

About the Book
At the age of twenty I was a wife and mother of three. I had major surgery and went into cardiac arrest. In September of 1974 I died on the operating table and immediately I went to Heaven. It’s a real place. It does exist. I know because I have been there. My experience was out of this world . This is my true story.
About the Author
Mrs Largent is a graduate from The Institute of Children's Literature in Redding Ridge Ct. Catherine was published in the Treasury of Christian Verse by Barbour Books. Also Selected Works of Our Worlds Best Poets and Who's Who In Poetry. She's also been published in several other poetry publications winning numerous awards and honorable mentions. She is responsable for creating verses for 100 inspirational greeting cards.
In 1998, she wrote several gospel songs and recorded an album titled "Give It All To Jesus." She is presently working with some vocal talents writing songs for them to record. Her music consists of gospel, country, patriotic and recently added blues, and children's songs.
Mrs Largent was the president of a Writer's Group in 1994-1995 called Mississippi Madness. She sponsored several contests which resulted in the publishing of two poetry books that included the members works.
Catherine gave several lectures on the basics of writing to 4th and 5th grade students. Also sponsoring contests. One of her goals was to advance the art of writing and reading of contemporary poetry in North America through the introduction of poetry in school systems and libraries.
She is almost finished with another manuscript of her life's story titled "Country Rascals and plans on having a series when completed.
Largent and her husband, Gene, have four grown children and eleven grandchildren. They reside at their home in Vandalia Missouri.
Her comments: Writing is like an important body function to me, such as breathing and my very heartbeat. As long as I have ears to hear and eyes to see, I pray that I can be a vessel in which His power may flow. May the work that I do be His work and enriching to those who read it. I give God all the praise and glory.
