Sobbing now, I reach over to grab a Kleenex off the table in front of me. I wiped my face and place the now soaked Kleenex into my lap to be used later. “Now what do I have? Nothing.” I started screaming. “I have nothing! Like an idiot I put all of my trust into a man, a marriage, and for what? What did I get out of this? Like my first marriage, I got stuck with the bills and a kid! Now tell me what’s fair in this? Tell me how my marriages both end with me being stuck with bills and kids? It’s always the woman who has to come and clean up the mess a man leaves behind. Shoot, some days I want to pack my stuff and leave all of this here. Right here for
“That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard!” Granny reached over to grab the remote. “How do you turn this thing off?” She started pushing buttons.
I took the remote from her and turned off the TV before she messed up the programming. Only
Granny leaned back against the cushions. “Have you ever even asked yourself who might want to see

“You haven’t thought about it hard enough. You still believe the man you love is guilty. How can you call that justice for him?” I’m shocked at how you have just allowed this to continue. I’ve heard you fight harder to win a case then you are for your family. So does that mean that money and position mean more to you than your family? Did you ever consider talking to Monique about any of this?” You know young people are more resourceful than you think. Now with the internet, they can get to things faster than we ever could.”
I laughed. “Monique? Granny, how would she know anything about this?”
“I’m betting she knows more than you think.” She grabbed my hand and hung onto it.

About the Author
I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I attended Northeast High school and went on to complete a degree from Langston University where I meet my husband Everett Jackson. We share our lives with two amazing girls Alyssa and Aliyah Jackson. I completed a Masters degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in Adult Education. I enjoy traveling with my family and writting. Shattered is my first novel.
