About the Book

Passions and secrets lie panting and torrid beneath the placid surface of the lives of the genteel women and men of Amelia Island. The island’s own charms have seduced me to lay claim to this place, Fernandina, Florida, as my own.

The Golden Years after the Civil War brought completion of the railroad and affluence with the influx of carpetbaggers from the North. Beauty arrived as well, in the form of Katie Eppes, newly wed to one of our town’s most dashing young conductors of the Florida & Peninsular Railroad, T. J. “Jeff” Eppes, great-great-grandson of President Thomas Jefferson.

Katie’s zest for life and disregard of acceptable social etiquette start tongues wagging and lead Jeff on a husband’s less than ideal start to married bliss. Her determination to have things her way culminates in the worst of tragedies. So my story begins . . .

About the Author

Maggie's writing jumps from genre to genre including short stories, ghost stories and poetry. Amelia's Secrets was inspired by one of her ghost stories and has taken four years of research to complete.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, second oldest in a family of six children she traveled extensively as an army brat and later on as an adult. An entrepreneur in the true sense owning several businesses until 2006 the idea of working seventy hours per week no longer appealed as the life style she and her husband Dutch desired.

Now an almost perfect balance of writing, working part-time, spending quality and quantity time with grandson Andrew and the rest of the family is what make her world a perfect place.

She is presently working on a sequel to Amelia's Secrets, is Group Leader of the Florida Writers Association, Amelia Island Chapter and volunteer for the Amelia Island Book Island Festival.
