About the Book

Moonwise is the first collection of Laura’s poems, which date from roughly age seven until the present.  It is filled with humor and pathos, as poetry books should be.  It’s better not to take them too seriously, no matter how sad they sound.  This is the proverbial tip, as there are still major boxes of stuff to go through.  Laura has always felt, no matter what happens, things will change. So you might as well laugh.

About the Author

Laura was born in Tennessee, but has lived in Texas almost all her life.

She graduated from college with a degree in theatre, planning to be a movie star.  Instead she met Floyd backstage and married him.  She has been writing since she learned how, has written plays for little theatre and church, and does readings whenever anyone will let her.  She will read anything with words on it, and if there’s no one else around, she reads to the dog.  She is retired from various careers, including teaching astrology and Tarot in junior college, managing a used bookstore, working for a vet, and doing data entry for the registrar at Southern Methodist University where she discovered she was good with a computer at the age of sixty.

Her passions include words, reading, politics, and wolves and dogs.  She enjoys movies that blow things up and mysteries and ghost stories.  And every book ever written by E. Floyd Phelps.

Her four children are grown and have added three grandchildren to the family.  Laura, a believer in magic, is waiting to see what comes next.
