I recommend you to seek knowledge before practice. Do not be involved in practice without knowledge. Do not seek knowledge without putting it into practice. Knowledge is like a tree and practice is the fruit of that tree.
Hasan Basari (May Allah be pleased with him) said, “Seek for knowledge without neglecting worship. Be involved in worship without neglecting knowledge.” Oh my disciple you should know that knowledge is the Imam of practice. The practice follows knowledge. You should know about the Articles of Faith, by understanding them and then by memorizing them. You should teach your companions the 66 Necessary Articles of Faith. They are contained in:

About the Book
The book entitled Mouridism: Iman, Islam and Ihsan is a compilation and synthesis of the teachings of Shaykh Ahmad Bamba who also goes by the names of Khadim Rasoul (Servant of the Prophet) and Serigne Touba (Master of Touba) that have been gathered together from a variety of his works. This is an introduction to his writings and the beginning lessons for initiation upon his path.

About the Author
Serigne Saliou Mbacke, the 5th Khalif of the Mourides, gave me the authorization and order to translate the teachings of Khadim Rasoul into other languages and to write about his life in order to help humanity. He explained to me that Allah blessed Khadim Rasoul with the ability to save all of those that were linked to him. He gave me the spiritual and scriptural proof of this. My task is only to make these teachings available in the best and most accessible form. The difficulty of translating the original teachings from Arabic to another language is evident. It must be understood that it is necessary to master Arabic in order to understand the writing of Khadim Rasoul becuase he wrote in the most pure Arabic. The highest scholars of his time recognized the particularity of the form and even substance of his writing. The meaning of some of his writings can only be explained by Serigne Saliou Mbacke according to their original inner meaning. The task of translating the writings of Khadim Rasoul is very important as it relates to the salvation of humanity. It is necessary to start with the basic teachings; so a series of his writings will be published in French and English. This book is part of a series of books to introduce people to the teachings and path of Khadim Rasoul. In the future, we plan to publish some of the major works of the Shaykh in their entirety.
