"OH NO LORD!, NOT A BOOK???" In October two thousand and four The Lord came knocking at my door. He said Carol there is something I want you to do And I replied okay Lord anything for you. He said I have given you talents and gifts and there are special things you can do You wanted to write songs and poems and play the guitar so I gave it all to you. He said Carol I want you to glorify my word by writing a book. I said A BOOK ! I sort of laughed but I wanted to give him a dirty look. I said Lord remember I write songs and I have a lot of them Why I have even written a few gospel hymns. But a book I wouldn't know what to do Then I paused and said Lord this book is going to have to come from you. You will have to guide my hands and I'll write it all down Then I smiled but I really wanted to frown. I asked if he could tell me what it was about and maybe we could compromise The Lord said no my dear the contents will be a surprise. I hate surprises was my reply I think it would be easier for me to fly. I think I heard the Lord laugh just a little Then he said why Carol just for fun we may start in the middle. Well I just clasped my hand to my forehead And I hope if I fail Lord you won't strike me dead.

About the Book
This book was given to me by God. All I had to do was listen to his voice. The first poem, AN OLD FRIEND, God gave to me at the beach. One minute I did not know this poem and the next thing I knew I was reciting it to myself wondering where it was coming from. Even then I had no idea that He would ever ask me to write a book. In the book I tell how that came about. All I can say is that if God wants you to do something He will use any means to get the message to you, even the television.
About the Author
Carol Blackburn is a freelance writer and poet. She says she never aspired to be a writer but God chose her to write this book. She gives all the credit to God for the contents. This is her first book but she hopes to write more. Carol was born in Northern Kentucky but lives in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, near the beach, where she has been inspired to write several of her poems. She says she loves writing but she also loves eating. So she is a faux finish painter to support her eating habit. She also writes songs and loves to play with her guitar. God, her faith, her friends and family are the most important in her life. Without her faith she says she was lost. She feels blessed to have a wonderful family and considers her friends the family that she got to choose.
