“Wake up Tyrone, wake up!” I was trying to whisper loud enough for him to hear me as he thrashed about the bed, “Wake up!”
“Huh, what?” he grogged. “I could here you when I went to the bathroom you were having a bad dream, kept yelling no this can’t be the end or something”
“Are you sure, S.E.?”
“Yeah I’m sure. What was your dream about?”
“Momma and Daddy, they were both leaving.”
“Leaving? What do you mean leaving?”
“They were both arguing and yelling and noone would listen and then Daddy threw his hands up and said forget it and then Momma said oh well and it ended S.E., just like that it ended.” We both sat there quietly for a little while then Tyrone asked, “Do you think we’ll get back together?” the silence, I know seemed eternal and I finally said “WE WILL GET BACK TOGETHER!! WE WILL! THERE WILL BE NO DIVORCE; THIS WHOLE THING IS JUST TEMPORARY.” I was breathing really hard and was unsure if I was so forceful with my words because it was the truth or because I was trying to convince myself it was the truth. I told Tyrone about the day I went into Aunt Sarah’s room and talked to JESUS. He asked would it help if he talked with JESUS about it too, or did I think one was enough. For some reason I ended up blurting out “Tyrone, for praying we can always use one more.” I also felt a sense of relief, like I had another person in our corner. I asked all that Aunt Sarah had asked me and then told him to tell JESUS what was on his heart and mind. He did and for a moment, I thought we’d be up until sunrise. He was talking about Momma, Daddy, Tyrone, Angel, me, Aunt Sarah, and even Lady the dog. Then all of a sudden silence. I opened my eyes to see he had finished and was asleep on the side of the bed.

About the Author
Erica Best was born and bred in South Carolina. She is the parent of a wonderful, rambunctious nine year old son who unknowingly teaches her more about herself everyday. Thank GOD. The accounts in the book in some ways did happen to her family: the fight, the break up, but unfortunately her and her siblings didn't recover as well as S.E. and her family did.
Recovering from the broken family has been an eye opening journey. Through the help and eyes of her son she has realized just how important the "whole" family is. It was started that way for a reason and she hopes that through this book kids will learn how to pray for their family's wellbeing and that through faith and hope they will trust in GOD to work everything out and provide them with peace during their own "Nine Days Before Christmas."
