ON KARMA AND THE GOLDEN RULE Committing a wrongful act against others is almost like putting a curse on yourself. So you can't fool God and you can't avoid your karma. Oh, you may get away with it for awhile. But sooner or later, what comes around goes around and you will get your karmic spanking. It might take twenty minutes or twenty years, but be advised, you can escape the police, you can fool some people and you may escape direct punishment. But you cannot escape yourself and you cannot outrun your karma. ON FEAR Fear can keep us from asking the prettiest girl at the party for a dance or a date. Fear of failure can prevent us from starting a new business. Fear of rejection can prevent us from applying for a loan or a new job. The lack of courage to take initiative can snuff out all kinds of opportunities. The bottom line is this: fear keeps us away from growth that is good for us, and keeps us tied to things that are bad for us.
ON AWARENESS Some people wake up in the morning but then go right back to sleep. I don't mean they literally get back into bed and start snoring. I mean they are not alert to the world in the larger sense. They are living life in the spiritual equivalent of a coma. They take in everything that the five senses has to offer them, but they don't recognize the larger meanings and implications of things they are experiencing.

About the Author
John Wesley Downey was born and raised in Houston, Texas and has spent most of his life working in the broadcasting, talent and entertainment fields.
John hosted the longest running talk show on Houston radio on KILT-AM & FM for 18 years, interviewing thousands of guests from all walks of life, both famous and not so famous. He began working on the air at age 14 as a dj. John's also worked as a film reviewer, newscaster and field reporter.
For five years John was a talent agent, running his own agency, Good Karma Management. During that time he represented over a thousand actors, models and voice over artists for work in the state's movie, TV, print and commercial production industries.
The Ten Commandments of Spirituality is John's second book. His first book was a novel, Redhanded, published in 2006. It's about a violent young criminal afflicted by a terrifying supernatural phenomenon. It's available on the internet and at bookstores everywhere.
John recently formed a new company, Good Karma Media, for the production of movies, TV programming and internet content.
John is from Texas, but never wears cowboy boots and hats and has only ridden a horse once in his life, and that was in Wisconsin.
