We yearn to reconnect to the past, only to find it doesn't match the memories of those whom we shared it with. The Friend
I tried to go back,
Into the memories of the past...
That which ties me to you.
But those thoughts were shadowed and unclear,
Turned pages in a book already read.
I mourned for that which I felt I had lost,
Knowing that it can never be the same.
But cherishing the part and time of me
That it nourished,
And tracing the cover of that book with caressing fingers,
I put it aside.

About the Author

Gwen, also known as Sunny Collins, was born and raised in Richfield, Utah...a small rural community 160 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah. She lived and worked in Richfield for 50 years. After 29 years as a nurse in the community, she transferred to Salt Lake, where she continued to work in the Operating Room, doing Transplant, Trauma, General Surgery and her specialty, Urology. She has been a nurse for 38 years and will continue to work in nursing for many years to come.
She maintained her home in Richfield...because that's where her husband remained in his job. Distance was not an issue and they have been married 32 years.
Gwen also has a unique body of experience that influenced her writing. A nugget of thought she likes to remember: If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. Life is an adventure and God just likes us to think we are in charge.
Sunny sums this book up with a quote from Shirley MacLaine, "I reached out to touch the unknown--and was changed by it." Her world expanded and these are her words.
