A Long Story

As I assessed my position, the whole day came at me.  I had been reacting to my environment to stay alive, so far.  Where was Cleveland and what device brought me here?   What was that bear?  It was bigger in height than any grizzly I’d seen in the zoos.  It looked more like a giant furry hyena than a bear.  Why was I here?  How was I going to survive, what were my chances?  What, how, and why? 

And now, I had no answers.  I closed my eyes and tried to find an inner peace.  I then prayed to find some inner peace, and that helped some. 

But, if I was going to give all of this problem to God, he was going to look back at me strangely for quite awhile.  I had to do what I thought was right, that’s all.  Maybe it was a test.  Maybe I would find something out about myself.  Or, maybe some idiot pushed the red button and the whole world blew up.  For a moment, it looked like I had had a choice there with all the lights.  Well, this is the choice I’d made and I was stuck with it, right or wrong.  If this was my second chance, then I had to do better than I had the first time.  I wasn’t asleep; this wasn’t a dream, that’s for sure.  I always was able to tell.

But, whatever else I’ve discovered about God and my private beliefs in Him, it was that He liked to watch me solve the wonderful problems He has spent so much time thinking up for me.  I’ve tried to be entertaining and humorous enough to keep Him interested in seeing me again; and based on how long I’ve survived, I’ve probably kept Him laughing enough with my antics and interested enough with my choices.

And, that was what I had to do here.
