ou often hear people say things such as “you would think with today’s technology, they would…” I know I say it ALL THE TIME. However, more often I say “WHY WOULD SOMEONE INVENT THAT? Isn’t society lazy enough?” Now, I’m not an inventor. I’m not some science wiz. I don’t have a Masters Degree in technology. What I do have, are everyday aggravations that make me think “what the hell were they thinking when they came up with THAT?”
I find it way too bizarre that technology is right on top of coming up with new ways or new inventions to make people more lazy and more annoying but yet, what’s going on with things people could REALLY benefi t from? Take the weather, for example. With the advanced technology that we have today, what is up with the weather? The forecasts are NEVER right! They should start only paying meteorologists by how often they are correct! Maybe then they’ll smarten up! They certainly aren’t worth an annual salary. By giving them an annual salary, they know that right or wrong, they will get paid. It has gotten to the point that meteorologists simply say “there is a 50% chance it will rain” all of the time so they will have a 50% chance of being right!
The worst is The Weather Channel. How can they have their own channel? We are talking about a cable channel that is just all wrong all of the time! We should be able to sue the weather channel. When they first came on the air, it was like “wow, look at this, weather ALL OF THE TIME!” Then, when you started planning days off , as beach days, only to have down pours the entire day, you learned quick that
The Weather Channel was only on the air to mess with peoples days off .
You’ve got to love technology when it TOTALLY works AGAINST US! What is up with all the freaking self-checkout lines at grocery and department stores? At Wal-Mart, for example, their self-checkout lines almost outnumber the cashiers. I’m sorry but, if stores want us to checkout our own merchandise, AND BAG THEM, give us some incentive! By going through a self-checkout, you are eliminating the need for cashiers, therefore, saving the store money. AGAIN, by going to a self-checkout you are ONLY SAVING THE STORE MONEY. Do you see a problem? Stores, such as Wal-Mart, certainly aren’t lowering their prices each time they lay-off a cashier and replace them with a self-checkout. Shouldn’t the customers get a percentage off of their purchases by using the self-checkout and doing IT ALL THEMSELVES?
Self-checkouts are disastrous! I remember going to Wal-Mart, and because of the long lines, and few cashiers, I opted to go to the selfcheckout. One of the items I was buying had, not ONE, not TWO, but THREE, different barcodes on it. Each time the register didn’t recognize the barcode, my red light would flash and I would have to stand there and wait for someone to come over. Unfortunately, because of the way my life goes, it was the LAST barcode that I scanned that worked. So, TWICE, my red light went off and, twice, I stood there waiting, annoyed as hell. What makes matters worse is they’ll have 6 self-checkouts and one person monitoring them for problems. It’s like a LIGHT SHOW! You stand there, waiting for 10 minutes while one person runs around to all the flashing red lights! But hey, our frustration is SAVING WAL-MART MONEY!
