One beautiful spring day while I sat near a stream,
I pondered my life, and began to dream.
I dreamt of my past, my present and my future,
How my life fit together like the colors of a picture.
First to my thoughts came my past and the many things I’d left undone,
I’d left a trail of heartache, through my life, a web I’d spun.
It was then I realized how many things I’d yet to say,
So many people yet untold, the love I felt for them today.
From these painful memories of my past, my thoughts did turn to present life.
And still today my love I don’t show, instead I cause pain, misery and strife.
From present to future in my dream I then go,
I see myself lonely and feeling so low.
As my thoughts continue to wander, my failure becomes evident,
And I realize my love for others was never made relevant.
With this on my mind I wake with a start,
The memory of the dream on my mind felt tart.
Then as I stood there trembling with fear,
It was the music from the stream I started to hear.
Then as I realized I was no longer asleep,
I was filled so with joy that I began to weep.
For it was only a dream and thus can be fixed,
Knowing this for the truth my emotions were mixed.
So with pen in hand, I made up a list,
Writing all of the names of those I would miss.
With at last this task done, towards home I did run.
To tell all my loved ones this dream I would mend,
To tell them the dream and the advice I could lend.
My life would not end as it did in my sleep,
For I had learned my lesson and this lesson I would keep.
