Magic Eraser

A group of children learns the meaning of self-confidence and self-value in "Magic Eraser and the Substitute Teacher".  When Mr. Davis replaces Mrs. Howard for six weeks, some of the students are wary and scared.  However, over time Mr. Davis wins them over and shows them how to love themselves.  Nikolas does not like school, and today is no exception.  He tells his mother all morning that he is sick, but she sees through his ploy and drops him off at school.  Instead of finding his teacher Mrs. Howard in his classroom, he finds Mr. Davis.  Mr Davis tells them that before lunch, he wants to know everyone's name, favorite books, favorite sport, favorite television show, favorite food, and pets.  The students are astonished, and most warm up to Mr. Davis immediately.  Others are suspicious, and Mr. Davis knows he must work extra hard with them.  He finds out why they do not like school and works to change their perceptions of school and of themselves.  As time goes by, Mr. Davis realizes that there are some students who are still reclusive, and to these students he presents the magic eraser.  This is a special pencil with a mirror on it, and it helps erase many life problems.  Anger, abuse, depression, and other problems melt away when Mr. Davis explains that the eraser works if you really believe it will.  Then students realize they have more power within themselves and can handle any situtation with a little help.  All the students are sad when it is time for Mr. Davis to leave, but he knows that he has changed their lives for the better and that they will never forget him or each other.
