The Stallion
From high above the valley,
He stood alone and watched below.
The stream where he might drink,
The meadow where he might eat.
His eyes scanned the valley floor
And then they stopped...a human... but wait,
This one was not like the others,
For as he watched, he sensed that
Everything about her was different.
She walked through the meadow to the stream,
Making no sound, silent like the wind.
She took her place on a rock.
And from this vantage point,
Drank in the solitude, the perfection of nature.
Sensing that she was being watched,
She lifted her head.
Her eyes met those of the most magnificent creature
She had yet to behold,
A stallion, so white, so pure, like the snow.
As he looked down into the valley,
He saw in her eyes the reflection
Of wonder and gentleness.
For an eternal moment
They spoke to each other without words.
Suddenly, the moment was broken,
He tossed his head, turned and was gone
