When she did awake, she heard strange sounds outside of the bag. The dizzy monkey couldn't understand these words, as she only knew monkey chatter. Warm with sweat, she was thirsty and not feeling well at all.
The monkey squirmed, and used all the strength she had left to push open the cover of the bag and escape.
Dazed, she soon discovered herself to be on the bed in the boy's room. Lying on the soft orange bedspread, for a moment she felt good, imagining she was back with her golden monkey friends.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes, the monkey was suddenly surprised by the sound of the bedroom door opening!
Carrying a laundry basket, the boy's mother entered the room with a high-pitched scream at the sight of the turquoise monkey. The little monkey was very afraid, but couldn't run.

On a rainy fall day when seven year old Jordan finds herself at home unable to play with her best friends, she daydreams of a cuddly constant companion to relieve her lonliness. She decides to draw her most desired companion in her favorite color, turquoise, and creates the turquoise monkey. This picture becomes her wish and obsession. Though Jordan never gives up hope, it seems unlikely her wish will ever come true.
About the Author
Upon the completion of the book, "The Turquoise Monkey", Mary Frances Rochester realized a childhood dream of creating one of the many stories which continued to surface in thought throughout her years spent in the field of human services. One on one experiences in caring for, assisting and teaching those in need, rewarded her with heartfelt gifts of genuine human emotion. Working closely with all age groups and issues including children, troubled adolescents, young and inexperienced parents, the emotionally ill, handicapped adults, and the elderly resulted in a rich experience of building rapport and relationships with all these people with specific needs. It's these observations and and professional involvements in assisting with the basic and emotional human needs that have influenced the substance of her stories and holds the reader's attention to the end.
