...the air is calm and a gentle breeze blows my hair in front of my face. I wipe it away. Then a frayed thin rope blows gently out of the top right corner of my doorway, which is to the left of me. I try to grab it but I can't reach, it's too high up. I can sense a kitchen chair is behind me, although I can't see it. Stepping backwards I stand on it, my eyes not leaving the rope. I grab the rope and I am trying not to fall from the chair as another but stronger breeze catches me. To my right, an old friend from my late teens and early twenties is sitting watching the sunset from the balcony, with her legs dangling over the edge. She tells me to come down and enjoy the view. But I am in a bit of a dilemma: To come down off the chair, I would have to let go of the rope. If I let go of the rope and get down from the chair to sit with her, I don't think I will ever be able to go back up. She says gently, "Let it go Maria... just let it go".

About the Book
Maria Place is a 40-year-old woman living in suburban Dublin, Ireland, at a time of tremendous regeneration in the not-so-privileged town of Ballymun. Three years previous she was also going through great personal change and feeling numbed by both the events in her community and the tragedies in her family life. On the advice of a friend and art therapist, she started to record her dreams with words and imagery. The result is 18 months of dream work and interpretations, some of which are captured in this record. 16 separate dream pieces are beautifully depicted and honestly represented in these pages, describing a powerful journey into the unconscious, the healing of suppressed events and emotions, the letting go of personal hangups and the awakening of a new era in her life. About the Author
Maria is already a self-published author with one successful publication behind her, "Building Hollywell" which was launched in Dublin back in October 2008. A Local Development professional and Community Activist, Maria's books draw from and depict the experiences of ordinary people doing, and in the case of this second venture "Letting Go", dreaming and depicting extraordinary things. Her training as a Journalist can be seen in both books, using her recording and editing skills to best effect, she's a natural story teller who captures the attention and imagination of the reader and draws them into her world.
