Living is a process in which we learn. Learning is a process in which we live. One of the many circles of life that exist and lived on a daily basis. Each and every one of us will have some form of life altering experience, (Epiphany) hopefully, only once in a lifetime (once should be enough). The cause of such an experience is the need for change within one's life. The first chapter in SONGS for the SOUL, titled "Faith", is a spiritual journey of knowledge and understanding. Professing to believe in God is one thing and believing is another. This chapter explores the relationship of God and religion; good and bad, right and wrong. Faith is a testament to the undying need of man to believe in the existence of God. It challenges one to go beyond the norm of quoted scripture and verse. Each composition denotes the intense and misunderstood declaration of having Faith. The use of rationale and hypocrisy are the driving force to validate one's commitment to God. Faith is a mirror to understanding. A reflection of who we are, who we want to be and who we pretend to be. The second chapter is titled "Why", a one-way trip through a briar patch of emotions; it questions mankind's ability to be responsible to each other. Challenging those who live in fantasy, striving to be unaware and or don't care. Why, is a confrontational view of Society's status quo indulgence and controlled chaos. An aged depiction of brother against brother and father against son, where the turbulence of dissatisfaction yields only to hate and discontent. The chapter offers a revealing look into societal norms that cling to the boundaries of injustice, creating a constitutional bondage and irreparable harm to man. These lyrical compositions are a revealing tale of mankind’s unyielding efforts to remain chained to and ideology that is stagnant and repulsive; allowing both black and white society to continue nurturing; aged, ripened, hatred. A saga that should be long lost and only remembered, for what it truly represents. "The evil that lives within each and everyone of us." The third chapter, "The evils of mankind" is a call for reality; a beckoning to each and every one of us to do all possible, to protect our young. The realities of life can be overwhelming, disastrous and fatal. Their innocence must survive and not be ruined or tainted. We must strive to correct our severe errors in judgment. The story in America is simple. We are a melting pot boiling over and no one wants to clean up their mess. The second composition delves into a son's love and his pain as he comes to deaths door to say goodbye to his mother. A heartfelt look at; what is, what was and what will be. The next composition pays homage to "memories". The purity and honesty they bring. Keeping forever in one's mind and soul the reality of: When, where, who and why. The last compositions in The evils of men are an explosion of truths; an unimpeded voyage that catapults one into a world of forbidden desires and unspoken lusts. A disturbing look into the immorality of mankind and his disgust for Societal mores. A long standing tale of harming pleasures. Here fantasies create nightmares and reality becomes a wished away dream. An enlightened venture into the self indulgence of mankind and his sordid desires. The final chapter is "Loving". The highs and lows of this potent force of emotions. This chapter carries you into the pains of broken hearts and the inabilities we have all faced in not knowing how to give or accept such a precious gift. A prophetic declaration of how we really feel, afterall, "it's all about you." Loving continues with the joys of "Mother Nature", her passion and need to maintain the beauty that she unfolds for everyone each and everyday of our lives. It is a testament to her love for mankind. The final composition is of and about Love. The beginning of two becoming one. The ultimate feeling, that only a few of the many, will ever know. A revelation of what it should and can be. One may or may not agree with the realities I see, none-the-less it is a sharing and hopefully one day you will share your realities with me. |

About the Book
There is an ole saying, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, that is a truth. Words are that very truth to me. SONGS for the SOUL, is a collection of lyrical compositions, designed to evoke thoughts and feelings. An open door to hidden realities, guarded and unseen. Where: Love, hate, anger and despair become: Father and mother, sister and brother. A family all part of one entity, which is life. This is not a soft journey but more of a casual walk to see who we are and who we may be. How one sees life is a universal event, where all living things are connected. A never-ending chain reaction to the demands of living. Intertwining a conglomeration of lives intermingling through active and passive circumstances, causing dependence on each other, the proverbial domino effect. SONGS for the SOUL is direct and confrontational. Only those who are willing to accept the challenge to understand will appreciate the intent. Mankind is at a crucial stage of development. The good, the bad and the ugly of life exist, it is alive and well but so are love, peace and understanding. This is our time to solve meaningless differences and together forge a future, where the common bond is: Giving rather then taking, loving above hating and right never takes second to wrong. This is our time to become a better human being and in doing so we will learn, understand and in due time become HUMANE. Mankind’s final epitaph should not be of death and destruction but rather a testament to Love and Peace and a helping hand to all who are in need. Then and only then will the question “Am I my brother’s keeper?” be long lost and forgotten.
About the Author
For as long as I can remember "words" have been love songs to me. A continuous, non-stop collaboration of rhymes and reasons. Sometimes annoying but other times pure ecstasy. There is an inner joy within each of us that brings a calm and peace. Words do that for me. There is no shingle hanging or degree that says he is a Dr of words. There is only love and understanding for them. From the first balled up piece of paper thrown to the garbage, they were destined to be here. My credentials as an Author are: A love for the written word, a passion for a thought that becomes an idea and a lust for the feeling of a good phrase, or well written sentence. Some may deem my writings as poetry but in reality, I am a "Lyricist" and sometimes my compositions may resemble a poetic moment in time. I guess that's why my mother use to say, "write it down and then you will know". I did and continue to do so. People will title my writings in their belief, but for me, it is for the love of words that I am finally here.
