About the Author

Tony Clark was born on 18th February 1966 in a south eastern suburb of Greater London to a working class family.  Until the age of eleven he played the role of school boy bully, placed in remedial classes with little hope of obtaining an advanced education.

Inspired by a far travelling engineering uncle, at the age of eleven, knuckled down to academic life to achieve the high school qualifications necessary to win a place at Oxford Polytechnic. There he completed a two year diploma in engineering, leading to a draftsman role with Rover cars in the Midlands, England.

In 1987 he left England for a twelve month contract in Brisbane Australia. Taken by the lifestyle he found a sponsor to become a permanent resident.  Uninspired by engineering, he changed his life to find a sales career, working in many challenging roles. Completing a six year part time Bachelor Degree to work for bluechip computer manufacturers including, Canon, Intel Corporation and Lexmark.

Following a life time dream, at the age of thirty seven, implemented a plan to gain ocean sailing experience and qualifications at nights and weekends. In 2005 Tony became a full time sailor.

During recent sailing adventures he experienced the generosity of some of the materially poorest people in the world. Although poor, the pleasure and zest for life exhibited by the children has inspired him to a life long pursuit to help provide education facilities to those nations.

Returning to England in 2007 he started a project which has raised enough money to build its’ first Room to Read secondary school in Laos.  He has become a certified business mentor, attended practical philosophy classes at the London School of Economic Science, started a business training company thinkUcan, and is actively seeking professional and charitable public speaking engagements.
