About the Book

"A Sheltered Life" is a combination of true stories of victims and survivors of Domestic Violence and provides knowledge for a better understanding of Domestic Violence.  Domestic Violence has many forms: Emotional Abuse, Verbal Abuse, Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Physical Abuse, and Sexual Assault. Domestic Violence follows a pattern of events (The Wheel) and there are Red Flags every man and woman should know. Red Flags make us aware of our life around us and how we are being treated. Are we being abused when our loved one calls us a name or gets upset with us if we are not home when we say we will be? When my loved one and I go out for dinner, do we go alone or with friends? If we usually go alone, we could be becoming isolated from friends and relatives; isolation is part of the pattern of Domestic Violence. About the Author

Mary Elizabeth Way has been a Shelter Advocate for the last few years and finds her work very rewarding, that is, helping abused women set themselves free from abuse. Mary Elizabeth has an Associate of Arts Degree with a major in Journalism. Mary Elizabeth graduated at the end of 2007 with a Bachelor Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Compelled to make communities more aware of Domestic Violence, Mary Elizabeth has written success stories from real victims who have become survivors, as well as provided useful information for those who are unaware they are being abused. Perhaps you are not being abused, but you suspect a friend is. Domestic Violence knows no age, race, creed, sexual orientation, or financial status.
