From Me To You: A Motivational Book For Youth In These Turbulent Times

The purpose of this book is not to entertain you, preach to you, criticize or judge you. I tried to write this book in the most objective way I could incorporating my own experiences and keeping in mind that we all have different backgrounds but one general goal: to live a long, healthy, happy and fulfilled life.

            This book is targeted at all youth regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. As I look at what is going on in the world not even a decade into the new century I feel compelled to express my feelings about how the media outlets are saturated with indecencies that make me turn away with disgust and embarrassment. As you read this book I want you to read it with an open mind shutting out all other things that may distract you. Circumstances that may have happened in your past or what you are currently going through should be pushed aside so that you can absorb this information with a clear mind.

            This book is meant to help you work on yourself as an individual-an individual that has a supreme purpose who can make a positive impact on future generations so that they are better equipped to handle the confusion and pressures of this world.

            This is not a book that explains to you how to get rich quick. It’s the furthest thing from that. The reason why I make a point of this is that we all sometimes feel pressured about money and we may fall into the trap of desiring a tremendous amount for self- fulfilling reasons. Young people are being consumed with wanting or having undeserved attention when certain material possessions are acquired such as a Bentley or $1000 jeans. But when you peel away all the material items that surround a person, what are you left with? People that I’ve met whose sole purpose in life is to become filthy rich and show off material possessions as if they are somehow better than others who don’t have the same items are a shell of a person. The material items that they have acquired are what make them who they are.

            Let me set the record straight about money at this very moment: money is the easiest item to attain in this world. There is nothing else comparable to the ease of getting money. I know you are saying to yourself this woman is crazy but think about it like this: money can be earned, stolen, found or won. The quickest and easiest way to become a multi-millionaire is hit the lottery. Pay one dollar for five or six numbers and you are super rich. Easy, isn’t it? But there is something that you absolutely need in your life more than what can be bought with money and that is strength of character. Strength of character is acquired through time, blood, sweat and tears. I am challenging you to develop this strength before you become financially independent to ensure that you will not lose it all because of stupid mistakes!
