Larissa Dare Gets a New Look

            “So guys, I have news.  I might decide to get glasses.  They’ll help me see better and I’ll be even smarter.” 

            As usual, the twins are giggling. 

            Glendrick, usually the smartest kid in our class, circles his fingers around his eyes and is singing “Four Eyes Dare… Four Eyes Dare.”

“No, wait…that doesn’t sound cool enough. Let’s think of something else,” says Chloe.  Or was it Zoe?  

“Larissa… Larissa... Four Eyes Finch… is gonna… Kiss ya,”   Kelly Munson burps. 

            Ugh.  The smell of tuna fish and cheese puffs surrounds the area.

            Morgan, not noticing the smell says, “Kelly, that isn’t very nice.”

            I’m starting to feel panicky inside. And a bit sick. It isn’t from the yucky ham. Is this what I have to get used to?  Is this how “Four Eyes Finch” feels?

Oh man.  I mean Todd.     Now I’m starting to get mad.

            “What’s the big deal?  I’ll still be the same person!”

            Oh no.  My face feels like it’s on fire.  I can’t be blushing!  Of all things!

            The twins are trying to hold back their giggles.  They’re unsuccessful.

            And just when I think it can’t get any worse...     Dusty Purvis appears.  I didn’t even see him coming.

            “So what’s going on at the losers table?” he asks with a smug grin on his pig-like face.

He takes one of Kelly’s cheese puffs and pushes Glendrick out of his seat.

            Dusty Purvis is beyond bully status.  He’s just plain crazy.  You can tell just by looking at him. He has big bushy brown hair and a square shaped body. He always walks like he has weights in his pockets.  They say he likes to squeeze kids until they puke, and then he forks it back into their mouths until they puke again. Then he’ll say afterwards, “See, I’m not the only one who hates your guts.”
