Back in the Woods

Sunday morning the phone rang at Bubba's camper. Bea had to climb over Frank to get to it."Hello...yes this is Bea Border...no I haven't heard from Bubba...he's not due till this afternoon...Wait a minute...what time is it Frank?" Bea put the phone down and grabbed her nightie.

Frank reached over on the night stand and got his watch. "Damn, it's only seven forty five, who's on the phone?"

"Someone looking for Bubba.' she picked the phone "Like I said, my brother...what's that?...Please say that again...oh my God!" Bea sat down on the bed.

"Bea, what's the problem? Is it your brother?"

She buried her face in Franks chest."Bubba's missing. The caller said he was working on one of the pilings and he fell. They,re not sure if he went into the lake or the concrete they were pouring. I've got to get up there. Bubba's the only family I've got."

"I'll go with you.' Frank pulled on his jeans and headed for the door. "I'll be back in thirty, forty minutes, okay?"

"Yeah, I'll be ready. It's over an hours drive to the work site." She hollered after him. "I really appreciate it."
