“Good morning, Mavis Gardens!” The radio broadcaster announced. “It’s a beautiful day to get out and—” Larissa sleepily shut off her pink alarm clock and arose from her cashmere blanket she had bought in London. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes before checking the time. Her clock read seven o’ clock. As she lifted her head, she felt dizzy, and her head suddenly became too heavy for comfort. And to make matters worse, her Yorkshire terrier puppy dog, Tootsie, jumped onto her belly, using her big, brown eyes to persuade Larissa into petting her. “Not now, Tootsie,” she moaned. She lightly pushed her dog away, forcing her onto the ground. Tootsie whined and padded back to her doggie bed with her head bent low.
Larissa did feel bad about treating her dog that way, but she was in such an awful mood, she didn’t have enough energy to even care. This is all Cher’s fault, thought Larissa. And it basically was. If it wasn’t for Cher’s burning desire to go to a huge end-of-the-summer bonfire just to show everyone she could get into a college party, Larissa would’ve had an adequate amount of sleep to function properly for the rest of the day.
But she had to admit the party was fun.
Everyone got loose, trying to enjoy every last ounce of summer fun before it was back to a world filled with textbooks and mean teachers. She remembered seeing people dancing crazily on top of their BMW’s and Lexus’s and chugging down cups after cups filled with Smirnoff Ice. Then after a moment of reminiscing about what had to be one of the wildest parties she had ever been to, she also remembered the worst thing ever done to her.

About the Author
Ever since she was ten, Efua (Christina) Mensah knew she wanted to write, but she wasn't exactly sure about writing books. She wrote songs (that didn't work out) and she wrote poems (it was later published, but she was sure she didn't want to do that). So finally, one day when she came home from school, an idea popped in her head, and that is when she wrote her first short story. She now divides her time between school, hanging out with friends, playing video games, singing, dancing, and of course, writing. This is her first novel book.
