She can see the woman’s aura sluggishly keep up with her spirit, which is gray and extends far enough to infringe on her son’s pink and white aura as she can see Thomas approach mother and child with a big grin on his face and a spirited high five for the child. Thomas’s aura is a shimmering gold with lithe sparks of orange and blinding light swirling around. No wonder! He just got done working at his volunteer job that he picked up for the summer. The Boulder Humane Society shelter for unwanted or displaced animals. He was highly valued there because since his arrival all the animals in his care were adopted and he was very good at finding prospective homes for the orphaned animals or matching people with dogs and cats perfectly. He was proving to all and himself that while he had no idea of the potential he had, he was at least determined to do something that came from the gut, Pamela thought, and with a big smile on her face she blew him a kiss from her palm, which he discreetly caught and place it on his chest by the heart, all the while keeping up a conversation with the non- committal neighbor.
“Looks like Thomas is pretty chummy with the queen of silence, hmm? I’ve tried and tried with that woman…she won’t talk about anything and she hasn’t asked any questions about what happen…it’s like Roger, Andrew, Cathy, Myra, Ron and Ritter never existed in her world…dang! What a life…just drinking wine, watching your hubby drink and watch T.V. and an occasional party for whatever reason, besides the kid’s birthday…I wonder if she’s even involved in her own life…what do you think?” Patricia asks, actually paying attention in case the twin sisters would grace her with their collective wisdom.
“ Well?”
“ Sorry hon…. I was going through my mental list of things that need to be done before we settle down and do our duty…” Pamela answers her, looking into Helen’s eyes for help.
“ Right! That’s what should concern us at the moment…you can’t blame the poor woman…she’s probably freaked out by all of us…probably thinks we killed them all and she’ll be next if she peeps up…ha, ha, ha…and then look…we’re all about to bring out new humans for her to worry about…c’mon Pat! What do you care what she thinks or wants…as far as I’m concerned, she’s peaceful, she minds her business and we mind ours and she’s friendly enough to just say ‘hi, how you’re doing’…. that’s good enough for me, as far as I’m concerned…besides, you can see she’s in the early stages of pregnancy and although I agree with you that she shouldn’t be running and jogging, I must respect her life style and not judge her. And you should do the same…see? I still have beer all over my dress, but I don’t judge you for having your one glass of beer everyday, just because I don’t. To each his own…what do you say?” Pamela speaks, her voice low, giving Helen a look of ‘thanks a lot for your help’ to which Helen shrugs her shoulders as if she’s saying ’what do you want me to say?’.
“ I guess so,” Patricia answers her, resigned to the fact that her bait didn’t work – “although it’s frustrating as hell sometimes…I mean we could help her, we could be friends…she can use some friends, you know?”
“ Maybe she’s one of those people who crave solitude…maybe she feels comfortable enough with herself or comfortable with individuals when the mood suits her. That’s all…not everyone’s outgoing and not everyone wears their heart on their sleeve as you do, my dear…
“Ha! You always have to have the last world, don’t you sweet Helen? Patricia kids her and pats her hand gently, all inquisitive aggression gone, her eyes searching for her beloved husband of four months, under a pile of screaming happy kids. Just looking at him, all covered in grass clippings and kids…her love…how could she have known that he would be her rock, her mountain…the flagstaff of her life?
Despite all that happened, hand in hand they walked the dreadful road up the mountain, with a small potted silver spruce in Greg’s arms and together, with their bare hands they dug a hole deep enough in the red side of the mountain at the approximate location where they made the decision together that Mali would be happier if she left and so will they; they planted the little sapling and watered it with their tears and regrets, yet smiled upon it with happiness and binding words of their eternal vows to each other. Flagstaff’s side was still charred, but new life was peeking trough and the story faded in people’s minds, just like the unfortunate souls’ ashes that were soaked and consumed by the ever-thirsty ground.

About the Book
The book started to simply write itself! The point of the book is to show how wishing to reach Heaven one could get killed by the saints!
Pamela is an apprentice and young wife to Ianus who is an aged, experienced healer from Transylvania. She makes it to the States in her teen years and after having her son Thomas shortly thereafter, she continues to learn as well as teach her son what she knows.
Pamela lives in a small neighborhood east of Boulder, where a reader will meet characters that have many traits, some not so pleasant, some dubious, some downright nasty. They each get a dose of their own medicine and Pamela is there to help them get a second chance, by healing them with herbs and touch. Who lives, who dies? And why? How? When? Where? What happens?
Ianus seems to have risen from the dead and plays an important part in their long ago, dreamed of quest that anyone could be a healer and a peace maker.
Can human nature be controled, changed through miracles or supernatural forces? Or is there such a thing as supernatural? Is it only in our minds? Is there an afterlife? Do our souls go straight up, down or hover? Are there in-between worlds? Is there reincarnation? You'll find the answers by reading the book!
It is not just a book; it is also someting closer to intimate knowledge of what it is all about...life and death and that which makes the between...
Be warned! It starts out with a bang and if you have the patience, it will reveal itself to you to be more than you expected or thought what it is! Instant will not suffice to reach the Heaven...or Hell!
Of course there's a sequel on the way!
About the Author
As a poet I had it as easy as it can get. Writing a novel is a horse of a different Charlie.
I have been challenged to write a novel that would horrify the reader from the start, yet keep the interest until the end. I gave it my best shot and hope for a sequel to come forth as well, soon.
I am a simple person who tries very hard to be as good as my nature allows. I am a wife, mother, friend and neighbor. My education carries no titles that would impress anyone, but my training has been hands on, through a few cultures and many decades. I vowed to never get a title that would even come close to "expert" or "master" since I have learned that I am still learning to the last moment of my last breath. I will learn how to die peacefully, gracefully and with dignity. I will learn how to die. The most important lesson I believe a creature will ever experience.
I know that most of the wrold doen't read anymore and to reach an audience by the simple title of my book is hard. Next time it will be " The Dummy Book on how to live and die", just for fun...what do you think?
