An hour before the school bus arrived, Mrs. Moore was just finally pulling the clothes out of the dryer, neatly folding each item one by one. While folding the last little pair of yellow panties, Mrs. Moore realized that she had not gotten to the doll yet. Stricken with panic, Mrs. Moore began to shuffle through the clothes. “Ok, let’s see. Could I have dropped it along the way?” She ran out of the laundry room and tried to back track her footsteps. She had not gone that far, when the phone rang. It was Lexi’s grandmother. Mrs. Moore began talking on the phone forgetting all about Lexi’s precious little doll. Although her daughter was occupied doing her homework, dinner time finally came around and Mrs. Moore could not take it any longer. She knew that in a few hours she would have to come up with some good explanation as to how Lexi’s doll could have ‘disappeared.’ After all, that had to be what happened, right? It ’disappeared?’ “You think it will be rough tonight without Red beside you, but you will sleep fine through the night. Before you know it, there will be sunlight shining through your window. When you see that, it will be morning and you will know that you made it! Then, every night that goes by, you will realize how lucky you are to be here and understand how brave you really are. Also, know that you have God with you at all times and remember that if you do become afraid, come to us or just say a little prayer and that will get you through anything. We love you very much, Lexi! Now, brush your teeth and get into your PJ’s.”

About the Book
Here is a little girl, who like most children, has her own item of security to keep her feeling strong and courageous. Lexi never goes to bed without her redheaded doll until one day when the doll goes missing. She is so upset and afraid, but later learns that she does not need her doll to be courageous in the dark anymore.
You will have to read more to see if the doll was ever found, and where did it go?
This book has humor and a story most young elementary school children have experienced before. A lesson in “Courage” is incorporated as your child enjoys reading.
