Assignment

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations" (Jeremiah 1:5).

   We are all on assignment. If you are of a sound mind and alive you are on assignment. If you are still here you have not finished the work God has given you to do. If your assignment was over you would be dead. However, we sometimes die prematurely when we continuously choose to do things our way instead of God's way.

    An assignment is a task of job given to someone. The ultimate purpose for our assignments is to help bring God's kingdom to earth.

   All of us fit into part of the puzzle God has designed to fulfill His purpose. This is called the master puzzle or the Master's plan. Before God formed the world He knew exactly what we would be doing now and what we will do in the future. God knew before the beginning of time where we would be today.

   All of our questions are already answered, and all of our problems are already solved. We have to go through a process. God has designed a process for each of us to go through. This process prepares us for our destiny and our assignment. It is our responsibility to find out the plan God has ordained for lives by being obedient to His instructions.

   Our earthly journey is a series of assignments which may include detours, stop signs, yield signs, red lights, green lights, caution lights, curves, proceed with caution signs, rest areas, danger signs, dead ends, potholes, and many more instructions.

   We are also given assignments according to the season we are in or according to the season God is trying to take us into. Most of the time we do not keep the same assignments for a lifetime, although there are some exceptions. It's the same as being in school. If we were given the same assignment repeatedly we would never learn anything new. When the assignments God gives us are successfully completed, then God gives us another assignment.

   In school all assignments are not always pleasant or easy. Some assignments require much study and research. With God our assignments are designed to teach us whatever lesson God wants to learn, to mature us for His service, and to help us reach our destiny.

   Often our assignments require much endurance almost to the point that we are totally exhausted along with our resources. God allows this to happen to us, so we will come to the realization that when all resources are exhausted He is the source of all resources. He is the only source. The race is not given to the swift but to those who finish the course.

   God has designed some assignments so we must ask for help. The person who is asked to assist with the assignment learns as well as the person who received the assignment. But there are other assignments we must complete alone.

   The assignments God gives us in the beginning may seem relatively easy. As we grow spiritually the assignments become more difficult. Many times we have to travel on this journey alone. There is no one who can help us but God, the Divine Teacher.

   God increases the difficulty of the assignments to mature us and to take us to a higher level in Him. The higher the level we allow God to take us the more alone we will be. God has a special place reserved for each of us where no one else can go.

   Our spiritual assignments vary in length. God is the only one who can determine when our assignment is over. If we get out of the position God placed us and stay out of positon, we may end our assignment and destiny prematurely.

   An assignment is still not fully completed if done with the wrong attitude. If you're given an assignment to do and the assignment is done with the wrong attitude, at the time you decide you want to do it, and the way you decide you want to do it, you have not completed the assignment. This means you did it your way and not God's way.

   God often gives us assignments to adjust our attitude to help conform us to His image. Even if the assignment is completed but done wth the wrong attitude, guess what? You receive another assignment of the same kind until you get it right.

   In school when a student fails to pass a test, the student is required to take a make up test. Many times the second test is more difficult.

   When we have to repeat an assignment God has given us, we encounter more potholes and detours than we ordinarily would encounter if we had done things right the first time.

   Our disobedience to our assignments not only hinders our blessings but hinders the blessings of others. The assignments we are given affect others as much as they affect us.

   Another person's blessings and destiny are dependent upon our obedience to the instructions God has given us. Our obedience to God with our assignments helps to usher in our season and destiny along with the destiny of others in a timely manner.

   There are people whom God has assigned to cross our paths for us to reach for God's glory and for their blessings. We must remain obedient to God's orders so we will be in the right position to minister to these individuals at the appointed time.

   In God's time we will also receive the blessings He designed and created just for us. It depends on how soon we complete the assignments God has given us and how well we learn the lessons He intended us to learn. You and I are here today because we are still on ASSIGNMENT.
