About the Book

Sarah’s Revenge was set in Western Pennsylvania’s Appalachian Mountains near Erie Pa. in the 1920’s to the 40’s.  An Italian couple immigrated to the United States, and the husband took a job as a coal miner.  He also bought a small farm and began a vineyard. The Ricardo’s had a son Joseph.

Joey grew up with the love of flying in his blood.  All of his time and interest were dedicated to that love that would control his entire life.

His family experienced all the harshness of that period, Prohibition, the Great Depression, and the terrible experience of early coal mining.

Later Joey joined the Air Corp in the early days of World War II.  He finished flight school in record time and was on his way to England.  He finds his true love during the war and marries her.  Shortly after their marriage the couple returns to Norton Pa. to start a new life.

About the Author

“Sarah’s Revenge” is Richard Orlowski’s second novel.  His first novel was “The Wild Card Café”, which was also set in Western Pennsylvania in the town of Apollo. After receiving many encouraging comments from his friends over the “The Wild Card Café”, gave him the drive to write another novel from the same period, with a very different type of story.

He loves the era of the 1940’s and 50’s for the simple life style of that period.  His stories of that period are of his own experiences.  He fictionalized those memories into two stores that to him, best describes life during that period.

He left Apollo Pa. in 1967 for a better job in Connecticut where soon after he married his Pa. sweetheart and they started their family.  In 1990 his plant closed and he accepted a position at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina and made their home in Augusta GA, where they live today.    In the writing of “Sarah’s Revenge” he used two editors in the writing, Paula Rowland and Richard Odom (Nick).
