Jennifer is not prepared for what happened next. Exactly at 3:30PM, she awakened by a forceful knock on her door. Looking through the window, she saw a black sedan; a Crown Victoria parked at the curb. “Can I help you?” She said to two men appearing to be in their thirties and dressed in dark business suits. “Yes!” The taller one explained. “Are you Jennifer Aldrich?” “What can I do for you?” They both held up what appeared to be FBI badges. “May we come in? Hugo was disciplining the woman who let her get away. He obviously was unaware the woman had failed to handcuff Jennifer again.
Not knowing which way to go and what lay ahead, Jennifer crouched down and tried to call 911 from the phone she grabbed. Her hands were shaking too severely, her heart pounding as if it would come out of her chest. She knew they would try to find her before she got too far. A man’s voice shouted “Come back lady, we aren’t going to hurt you. There are snakes and alligators out there. I have food for you.” She was frightened out of her wits but kept going looking for any sign of lights. It was very dark and starting to rain. She continually fell to the ground sinking into the mud soaked saw grass marshes. Her knees cut and bleeding from the saw grass, her ankle twisted. Saw grass is a member of the sedge family and is not really grass. It is named for the rows of sharp teeth that run along each edge and down the central spine. If touched in the wrong direction, it can be brutal. The area contains few trees and shrubs. Cattails prosper. She has become disoriented and light headed from the remnants of the drugs.
Desperate and exhausted, her fingers trembling she is finally able to get 911. “Help me please, my name is Jennifer and I have been kidnapped.” “Please stay on the line, where are you now?” “I don’t know, I just ran from a cabin, from a young woman and from a man named Hugo. Jennifer, what is your last name?” “Aldrich, Jennifer Aldrich.” I am in a swamp near a lake with a cabin. There may be a green van. I am afraid of snakes and alligators. Please help me. “Jennifer, look around, do you see anything at all that you can identify with. I don’t see any lights, no road.
