Controversy Bandwagon
There’s a lot to be said about the unknown,
How in times of distress the answers are never shown.
Sometimes we wander and never get lost,
And other times we wonder, while it comes with a cost.
We can sit on our asses and never tell the story,
While other times we talk up our signified glory.
We can take the prize and the long way home,
And with our hands, we can help rebuild Rome.
But in times when we are filled with dying need,
We’ll take the hand of fate and tie it to our greed.
We’ll make like a tree and grow,
And give nothing back to the ones who go with the flow.
Writing it down as if to say something of worth,
Killing ourselves and becoming one with the earth.
And all the while the world collides with its imaginary axis,
We’ll divvy up our possessions, dividing them equally with taxes.
And who would care if the clouds fell from the sky?
We can still proudly believe that in heaven we can fly.
We don’t want this world to end,
We don’t even know how to cope when our heart’s on the mend.
So why do we say that which is not true-
That I am one and equal to you?
Because I can sit on my porch with a gun over my lap,
And I can shoot you dead just for lifting your cap.
So maybe it’s a crime, that I am the way I am,
But in times of unjust civility, I just don’t give a damn.
Save your pity for the weak and let God show you mercy,
Because in this society today, all we know is controversy.
So hop on the bandwagon and grab yourself an ore,
We’re going to sail the seven seas in search for something more.
And who cares if we’re denied at the end of earth and our journey,
At least we didn’t have to pay a lump sum of money to our defending attorney.
Let's sit on trial in front of God and his angels,
And give him our plea of all our different hells.
For when judgment comes and our souls are taken away,
Let's forgive ourselves first, for all the things we did not say.
