About the Book

            West of the Brazos is a story of a man and the settlement of a land. Jessie Lee Franklin rides west to find his future and finds it west of the Brazos river in far West Texas. He overcomes adversaries and meets new neighbors who are also there to settle the land. They overcome outlaws and raiders. Jessie makes a ride across the vast Llano Estacado trailing an outlaw. He meets Indians and ciboleros. They have a cattle drive and blaze new paths in a new land. A town is founded. 


About the Author

            The author grew up in West Texas, a descendent of pioneer ranchers. He grew up riding and working cattle from an early age. He has worked the ranges of Texas and New Mexico, and traveled over the land he writes about.  

            The author’s short stories have been published in various magazines. He is the author of A Final Place, Frio Man, and Ramblin’ Man. All are set in the west that he knows so well. He writes about places that are real and the events are believable.

            He has been a cowboy, engineer, and Alaskan bush pilot. He is retired now to his native Texas not far from the land of his ancestors.
