Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion, and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 2 Cor.1:3-4.
We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves, but on God who raises the dead. 2 Cor. 1:8-9.
If anyone has caused grief,... The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient for him. Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 2 Cor. 2-5, 6-7.
Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.

About the Book
My book is a compilation of Bible verses from the New Testament. These include the books of Roman through the book of Revelations at the end of the Bible. I underlined these verses in an attempt to get relief from my own symptoms of suffering through a deep depression. They are designed to be helpful to others who are experiencing various challenges. I think this book will appeal to readers of many groups such as: alcoholics, drug addicts, fellow Christians, the mentally ill, people with catastrophic illnesses such as HIV and cancer, etc.
About the Author
I have overcome many illnesses and problems in my life such as: alcoholism, drug addiction, cigarette smoking, weight problems, and mental illness. My life is on an even keel now except for lingering depressive problems. I hope to overcome this with time and the help of God. Also, my psychiatrist. I was born in Chicago and raised in California. My mother was a Minnesota Finn and my father was a band leader and an electrical engineer with roots is California. I did well in school and am almost a college graduate. Because of my various problems I have been unable to complete my education. I am happily married to a painter and artist for 33 years. He is yet to be discovered, but we have high hopes. I have one daughter and four grandchildren. I am working now as a substitute clerk typist for the local School Department.
