About the Book

In this book, the author presents a riveting account of her life in short story form which provides the reader with a thorough understanding of her extraordinary existence. Beginning with her father's heroic and harrowing flight from the barbaric tribal warfare waged between Hutus and Tutsis, the reader learns of the monumental obstacles her family encountered in their most noble quest of raising a wholesome family under normal circumstances. However, the author's family consistently was forced to evade and navigate dangerous and often unforeseen events just to survive. Composed in a captivating narrative and compelling dialogue, the text flows at brisk tempo which should maintain the reader’s interest throughout. In vivid detail, the author effectively conveys the atmosphere and environment she occupied throughout her life and the challenges they presented. It would not be considered out of the ordinary if the reader quickly developed a solid bond with the author and those around her.

About the Author

Chantal grew up in Kisangani, DR Congo until the age of nineteen when her family returned to their beloved land of Rwanda.  Her parents had settled in DR Congo since the 60s when they flee from the war raged between Hutus and Tutsis. Chantal worked for NGOs in Rwanda before emigrating to Scotland where she currently resides. She holds a degree in management and has two children. She loves storytelling and has appeared in many organised events as a storyteller and guest speaker.  Besides her tasks as a mother and employee, Chantal is also an elder in her church and is involved in many Ethnic Minority groups in Fife, Scotland.  Having experienced extreme poverty during her childhood, she has a strong passion to reach out to those children who remain in the inhumane conditions brought on by poverty.
