About the Book

The year is 1969, and it's only a month after Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, when four teenage boys experience an adventure that would change their lives. They agree to challenge themselves by riding their bicycles to a town 15 miles away. The simple bicycle excursion manifests into an endeavor that has more twists than the road itself. Early into the trip, the boys give a hitchhiker a ride. After a few miles the hitchhiker decides to go in a different direction. Before he leaves, he gives one of the boys an object. They come to realize that the object has a historical past along with the man that owned it. Not until 2006 do the boys, now men, unravel the mystery of the object and the hitchhiker they met 37 years earlier.

About the Author

Patrick G. Davis is the fourth of six children. Patrick’s initial job out of college was working for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. He was a fourth generation railroader. After 10 years of repairing train cars, he made a career change. He managed a resort in the summer and coached wrestling in the winter. He accepted another railroad job and moved his wife and family to Arizona, this time to work for Arizona Eastern Railway. After four years, he moved back to where he called home; Wisconsin.

Patrick has a way of bringing you back to the 60's and 70's. His stories grab you and hold you in a time when music, war, and ideas influenced our nation. His two older brothers made him see life in two different ways. His respect for both brothers and their beliefs gave him a gift of acceptance for all walks of life.

His first book, 'The End of a Childhood' is a story that is a testament to his love for his family and an appreciation to a very special childhood.
