About the Author

As a parent, we want to see our kids handle their problems with poise and intelligence.  It hurts us to see them struggle, especially if we feel that they could handle adversity better if they were more equipped or kept a better perspective on the situation.  The author, Danny Jordan, has been involved in baseball since the 70's as a player and a coach.  An average kid with minimal ability, Danny found enrichment from the game through a positive role-model and a superior teacher, his father, Gary Jordan.  That is where the fun began and ended.  My dad always told me that he loved me whether or not I played baseball, but if I committed to play, I had to do my best to learn and appreciate the way the game of baseball is supposed to be played.  Winning, more success, acheivement would follow, but, was not the most important thing.  Developing character and self-esteem through the vehicle of baseball was our main objective.  As a coach with 3 Texas high school state championship rings and dozens of college scholarships later for his players, the love for the kid is most important to Danny.  "Keep it fun, however, the youngsters need to learn how to earn that priviledge through proper teaching and a structured training environment.  The fun will follow.  Failure in this game is an opportunity to prove you can work harder and get better.  In today's society, we have forgotten that they are still kids, but, to teach fundamentals and discipline has been forgotten too.  This book is designed to call together all adults involved in baseball to get organized, simplify your teaching methods, and be patient while development is being cultivated."
