The summer we moved to
"My new school looks so big..." I observed, very frightened. "It is. This is
"Of course I will." I answered assuredly. But the thought horrified me as I lay in bed in terror- tomorrow was the first day of school. I don't remember waking up that morning, but I remember the walk was shocking enough in itself: the speeding traffic of 1944, the tremendous heat, the glare off the shop windows.
Inside the school's gate, the chaos on the blacktop was overwhelming. Where do 1 go? The September sun that Tuesday after Labor Day was unseasonably hot. A brazen girl my age pushed her way through the crowd towards me and perhaps unintentionally dug her nails into my arm, pulling me to the first grade side of the building.
"Can you read?" the brazen girl was still quite brazen.
"I can read my name."
"There's a list of the placements, see if you're in our class." The list taped to the door was scripted in scribble, nonetheless, I recognized my name.
"Clarisse Swansson, Yes. I'm in this class."
"I'm Henrietta Nichols," proclaimed the brazen girl extending her hand, "This is Gwen Powder, Chloe Jones and Kateleen Watson." In big city sophistication, each girl extended her hand for a polite hand shake. Something I had never seen in the village. Their sleeveless dresses were in complete contrast to mine. Theirs were airy and summery, light in texture and color, pastels and patterned whites, revealing tanned shoulders. My own dress was surely misplaced. Even the season was wrong: a stiff navy blue dress with a broad sailor collar its inornate sleeves ended tightly at the wrists. The broadcloth made me itch.

About the Book
This series is different from others as far as theme is concerned for the following reasons: it takes place in the 1940's, a time few young people are even aware of, the two main characters knew each other "someplace before" this is up to reader's interpretation and imagination as to whether this is a past life, or their previous planet really exists, unrealistic situations are placed amid the realistic and even depressionesque situations of World War II. A couple fantastical characters make an appearance- they are good. I don't know what to compare it to, because I don't think there's anything else like this out there. Young girls are longing for something that lets them exercise their imagination and introduce them to a time with which they're completely unfamiliar, a Quaker girl and a "foreign" girl create things magic in the realm of

About the Author
My name is Brite Templeton and my story is UNDER ALDEBARAN. I believe it is primarily targeted at young adult girls, but anyone could get involved in the series. The series differs in each book is divided into a Part I and a Part II. The Part I of each book will revolve around the girls in their early grade school years. The Part II of each book the series will revolve around the girls after Cygnet and Tabitha are reunited senior year of high school. There is a reason for the "absent years", everyone has those years they would rather forget: because they did not know each other those in between years here on Earth Cygnet assumes Tabitha's years were perfect, but that is up to the reader to decide. This is my first book of the series, I already have other chapters ready for the next book.
