About the Book

The Other Side of 40: A Devotional Journey To and Through the Wilderness was birthed from the story of Jesus, having just been baptized, being led of the Spirit to the wilderness to be tempted.  For as long as we live and breathe, we will have those what are called “wilderness” experiences.  But the good news is that the wilderness is not a stopping point, but rather a passing point.  Wilderness experiences come, they last for a season, and they pass; thus, the Other Side of 40.  Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness, battled His flesh, battled the Devil, and came out on the other side victorious.  This devotional journey is designed to empower, encourage, and remind the reader that you can walk confidently through the wilderness, and that victory is more than a dream, it’s guaranteed!

About the Author

Dr. Aaron T. Barkley is a native of the “Rubber City”, Akron, OH.  He currently resides in Columbus, OH.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Kent State University and Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry.  Dr. Barkley accepted the call of God on his life to the ministry while in his senior year in undergraduate studies, and at that point made a commitment to allow God to use whatever he had to “reach people”.  He is a acknowledged teacher both by natural and spiritual gifting and has a sincere burden to see people realize their God-given potential and prosper.

He is married to Tammy, the queen of his life, and is the proud and passionate father of Taylor Christine and Aaron Thomas II, both of whom by his testimony “keep me on my toes!!”

For as long as Dr. Barkley can remember, he has had a desire to “be there” for people.  He has what he calls a ministry of encouragement, and it is with that gift that he serves.
