About the Book

IMPORTANT  ANNOUNCEMENT

          The purpose of this announcement is to present a preview of my book, which should be available from AuthorHouse.com.   

            I’m referring to La Dinámica de la Iglesia en el Siglo XXI, or in English it translates into The Dynamics of the Church in the 20^th Century.  At present the book is only written in Spanish. But maybe an interested bilingual reader can translate it into English.  The following is a brief summery of the five chapters and conclusion:

            1. The Ministry of Music and Worship.  One of the topics discussed in this is: Planning worship for those on the “outside.”

            2. The Ministry of Proclamation. This chapter contains such information as, The fundamentals of expository preaching.

            3. The Ministry  of Church Growth and Discipleship.  This chapter discusses topics such as The Mission, Vision and Purpose of the Church. 

            4. The Ministry of Prayer.   This ministry is fundamental in carrying out the rest of the ministries discussed in the book.

            5. The Ministry of Fellowship.  This last chapter is also key in developing unity in the Body of Christ. It discusses The Koinonia with Christ: Model and Mandate. 

            Conclusion.  This section contains: A look to the Future, The Church in the next ten years and other predictions by George Barna.

            This book is recommended by Joe T. Poe, Ph. D., General Director Emeritus of the Bapist Spanish Publishing House/Editorial Mundo Hispano who says: “The space station photo on the cover symbolizes the new trends that await us in the 21^st century.”

About the Author

El doctor Ricardo Peña ha ministrado en cinco iglesias situadas en las ciudades fronterizas de El Paso, Texas (EE. UU.) y Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua (México) por más de cuarenta y cinco años. Durante los primeros veinticinco años sirvió como director de música de dichas congregaciones. Fue ordenado al ministerio en 1981, durante su término de servicio como Presidente de la Convención Hispana de Texas.

En 1982 recibió una invitación para servir como Director de Ministerios Hispanos de la Sunrise Baptist Church. Fue allí que dio inicio el ministerio pastoral del Dr. Peña al organizar la Misión Bautista Sunrise, la  cual llegó a formarse en la Iglesia Bautista El Camino.

Durante todo este tiempo el Dr. Peña continuó laborando como Físico  de la Atmósfera con el Laboratorio de Ciencias Atmosféricas del gobierno de los EE. UU. hasta su jubilación en 1991. Después de esta fecha se dedico de tiempo completo a pastorear la iglesia.

Su preparación académica incluye: Licenciatura en Física de la Universidad de Texas en El Paso, 1961; Licenciatura en Teología Práctica de la Universidad de Howard Payne, 1997; Maestría en Estudios Teológicos y Doctorado en Ministerios de la  Universidad Cristiana Logos de Jacksonville, Florida en 1999 y 2004 respectivamente.

Mediante este libro, La Dinámica de la Iglesia del Siglo XXI: Cinco Ministerios Gozosos, el autor desea que los pastores y líderes consideren hacer los cambios necesarios de acuerdo al contexto y cultura del siglo XXI para ministrar mejor mediante la  Adoración, la Proclamación, el Discipulado, la Oración y el Compañerismo, no olvidando que podremos cambiar nuestros métodos, pero nunca el mensaje.

El doctor Peña tiene una linda esposa, Marta, quien ha sido activa por muchos años en la obra del Señor, especialmente como maestra de Escuela Dominical. Además, los esposos Peña tienen seis hijos y diecinueve nietos, todos los hijos graduados de la universidad, y la mayoría activos en alguna iglesia.
